It isn't surprising how many merchants are slowed down by coin currency; many supermarkets and drug store cashiers already have change machines in their aisles which dispense coin currency to their consumers for their change that is less than a dollar. This has already been shown to quicken lines and speed up efficiency altogether.
When a cash transaction is made between merchant and consumer, the change the consumer receives that is less than a dollar will be transferred to a card. Much like the change dispensers already in circulation, instead of receiving the change in coins, the consumer instead inserts their Piggy Card into the machine and the coin amount is credited to their card. The card and the machine itself, work much like the technology behind the Metro Transit Authority card. It is a relatively simple idea of receiving and distribution of information (i.e.; currency amount) through a speedy insertion or sliding of the card through an PC machine.
WHAT DOES THE PIGGY CARD LOOK LIKE?
At two by three and one quarter inches, weighing 4.9 grams, it is the size of any standard credit card or debit card that can be held in a wallet. Accompanying the standard wallet sized card will be a mini card that may be attached to any key ring or chain. At one and one half by two and one half inches, weighing in 2.5 grams, it grants standard practicality and accessibility. It is given to the consumer complete with card, simple instructions, and hidden pin number.
HOW IS THE PIGGY CARD DISTRIBUTED AND ACTIVATED?
The Piggy Card can be distributed to anyone who wants one. There is no age requirement, limited application process, and no extra fee to own the card, making its circulation extremely simple. It can be distributed through supermarkets, offering the Piggy Card as an added benefit to their services; it can be distributed through a simple phone call to an 800 number or even accessed over the internet. As simple as it is to distribute, it can also be activated in the same manner, over the phone or the internet. Each card will already be provided with an individual bar code and pin number. When the consumer receives the card, they either call the 1-800 number provided in the back of the card, send the application through the mail or over the internet. All the info they need is their name and address and their individual card secret pin number.
FEES AND HOW PC ACCESSES ITS DUE CHANGE
Piggy Card Company charges 10 cents on every dollar of the total amount for each card holder. 1%-3% of that 10% is distributed to the merchants who offer the Piggy Card services. Upon "cashing out" a $10 minimum is required.
HOW DOES THE CONSUMER ACCESS ITS DUE CHANGE?
There will be an PC machine at various locations providing the Piggy Card. By inserting the card, dialing in the cards pin number, the consumer will receive a voucher with his/her name, which acts like a cashier's check. What the consumer does with that voucher is up to them. They may also access their cash over the internet or call the 1-800 number on the back of each card and a check will be sent to them by mail.
WHAT DO YOU SEE IN THE PC FUTURE?
The Piggy Card's revolutionary concept will have a hand in shaping the way the future consumer handles coin currency. Eventually the ease and accessibility of the Piggy Card will be used by many more merchants looking for ways to launch their own businesses into the future or simply to keep up on the advances for both consumers and business owners. Soon parking meters, laundry mats, bus lines, anything that has a coin feed accessory will have PC accessibility. Just insert your card for every quarter of a dollar into the PC machine.
